In this module you will learn how to create a new project that has both Requirements & Xray entities, as an All-In-One project.
Create Project
Go to Jira Administration > Projects > Create Project or directly from the header (global menu) Create Project.
Select Template
The first choice you have to make is to decide if you will want a classic or a next-gen project.
For more information on the diferences please check Classic and next gen project templates in Jira Software Cloud
Classic Project
When creating a project you have different templates available that will bring you different schemes ( issues, screens & workflows) and that can have different features.
If you choose template you are redirected to :
Where you can select any of these templates or change the template category to Service Desk or Software and other templates will be available.
When creating a new project you can either created based on a template or you can create with the shared configuration.
The main difference is that when you create based on a template you will create new schemes.
Schemes Created | |
---|---|
Based on a template | Workflow scheme Issue type scheme Issue type screen scheme |
Based on a shared configuration | None ( its uses the same schemes from the shared project) |
You might find it useful to re-use the schemes that you have already configured in another project. If so, use the "Create with shared configuration" option.
Independent on the choice you made the Xray configurations will be the same.
You will need to configure Xray Issue Types and the Covered Issue types
Next Gen Project
You will need to provide a name and define access.
For more information on access levels check the Atlassian next gen permissions documentation.
You can also select here a template ( categories of projects will depend on the products you have subscribed )
The configurations that need to be made for configure Xray are very a like the ones for classic , with the addition of some extra steps that you can find in Project Setting A Next Gen Configuration.
Enable Xray in your projects
You will need to perform at the below steps:
Add Xray issue types to the project Issue Type scheme
You would add the Xray issue types as any other issue type to the project.
When visiting the Xray Settings in your project Xray will always give you a view about the issue type configuration and alert if it misses any Xray standard issue type
Please note that its not mandatory to have all configured! In this case the user has chosen not not use Sub Task Execution and while Xray does alert to the fact that its missing , all would work perfectly.
Define Coverable Issue Types
You should define the coverable issue types, the ones that you consider your requirements and that will be covered by tests.
Define issues types that are to be understood as defects.
You might also want to define which issue types are to be configured as Defects in your project configuration.
This module details you the minimum configuration that needs to be done to create a new project with Xray enabled. Go to Basic & Cloud Advanced Setup to explore other configuration possibilities.
