Since Xray uses issue types in order to map the different testing entities, you can configure workflows to manage those entities.
This will allow you to:
- Manage the lifecycle of tests specification, test execution and test plan.
- Create conditions or validators in order to control the status transition, for example, only users from a certain group can approve test specifications.
- Invoke post-functions when certain statuses are met, such as notifying certain stakeholders or generate detailed reports
Design & activate the workflow
The first step is to design the workflow using Jira Administration > Issues > Workflows.
After designing the workflow you can active for your project. You do that by updating the workflow scheme.
Check Xray specific configurations for workflows
Go to Jira Administration > Manage Apps > Xray > Miscellaneous and check the several workflow related configurations.
