Usually Xray for Jira Cloud is updated automatically so you always have the latest version, meaning that, by default, you do not need to update Xray manually.
However, in certain major updates you may need manual approval by the Jira instance administrator. This happens, for example, when new Xray features need additional scopes in Jira, or if the UI has changed dramatically.
A manual update can also be required to resolve eventual disruptions to the service.
Automatic updates
If the changes do not require manual customer approval, they are automatically deployed to all customer instances within 33 hours by Jira.

To update Xray for Jira manually
- From Jira Settings, select Apps > Manage your apps.
- Find Xray for Jira Cloud in the app list and click Update next to it.
