As explained previously, you can use the Xray Exploratory App to perform exploratory tests in two modes:

On this page, we are going to explain some prerequisites you need to execute before using the app on each mode.

Xray Exploratory App connected to Xray for Jira

To use the app connected to Xray for Jira you need to:

  • Follow the instructions to configure the app in your Jira instance;
  • Have a validated license of Xray in your Jira instance;
  • The projects you want to use should have the Xray issue types configured;
  • To create defects, you need to define the respective issue type on this menu Project Settings → Xray Settings → Defect Mapping in your Jira project.

Xray Exploratory App Standalone Mode

To use the app standalone, without connections to Jira and Xray you need only to follow the steps of the installation of the app and choose the option Use the app without Jira on the App settings.
