The Testing Board is a project page which aims to track and manage all activities related to Testing. Currently, the board provides access to the Test Repository and the Test Plans in the Testing Board. In future releases of Xray, we plan to include other features on this page such as Executions and Test Runs. The main goal of the Testing Board is to provide a central hub for accessing Xray thus abstracting users from issues whenever possible.

The Testing Board menu can be accessed by a navigation drawer. From here, you can access the following items:

  • Getting Started - Opens a new page with basic information explaining Xray entities and issue types;
  • Test Repository - Opens the Test Repository page where users can access all Tests within the project and organize them in a hierarchy of folders;
  • Test Plans - Opens the Test Plans board, where the project Test Plans can be accessed. Each Test Plan can also be organized in a hierarchy of folders;
  • Reports - Opens the selected report page. Since Xray reports are global (they can be used with more than one project), they are also placed here on the global context;
    • Test Coverage;
    • Traceability;
    • Test Plan Metrics;
    • Tests List;
    • Test Sets List;
    • Test Plans List;
    • Test Executions List;
    • Test Runs List.
  • Configure Project - Takes the user to the Xray project configuration page;
  • Test Case Importer - Opens the Test Case Importer wizard that will guide the user step-by-step in importing test cases from other tools outside Jira;
  • Documentation - A link to the Xray documentation (where you are right now (smile)).

Some of the items above will redirect the user to the global context in Jira (outside the project). These include the Getting Started page, Reports, and Test Case Importer. This happens because these pages are global pages and not project pages.

The last project page selected will be stored in user preferences so that when the user again accesses the Testing Board, they can continue with the work they were doing.

The Testing Board will be available in projects with Xray issue types or issue types that are coverable by Xray.
If you have a project that had these characteristics and no longer does and do not wish it to have the Testing Board menu item in it, you can disable it in the Xray Settings of the respective project.
