Xray will update the Test Plan Tests whenever the user enters the Test Plan issue page. 

Nevertheless, to To keep Test Plan up to date with current results from the JQL filter , Xray will run a service even if users don't visit the Test Plan issue page, a dedicated service will be run in the background every two hours. This interval can be modified in the Services section of the Jira system administration.

are special cases in which a Xray will also update the Test Plan will be updated immediately:
