Note

This action will add all Xray issue types to the project schemes.

Make sure you realize the impact of changing an Issue Type Scheme & and Issue Type Screen Scheme directly from a project. Don't forget that the schemes may be shared with other projects.

Update Issue Type Scheme

  1. Go to Jira Settings
UI Step

From Updating Issue Type & Issue Type Screen Schemes

Tip

By updating the Issue Type Scheme & Issue Type Screen Scheme you have the flexibility to select exactly which issue types are going to be available in your project.

If you want to separate test specifications ( issue type Test) from executions ( Issue Type Test Execution) in different projects, you might prefer to use this option, rather then going back to the schemes and deleting the issue types & screens you don't need.

  1. Go to Jira Administration > Issues > Issue Type Scheme and select the Issue Type Scheme you want to add Xray Issue Types.
  2. Drag-and-drop Xray Issue Types: Test, Test Plan, Test Set, Test Execution to Issue Types for Current Scheme.

Tip

If your project uses the Default Issue Type Scheme you only need to perform this action if you don't want to use all issue types.

Your team does not have to use all Issue Types in their project. If you want to go for a simple approach you might only use - Test, Test Plan & Test Execution.

  1. Go to Jira Administration > Issues > Issue Type Screen Scheme and select the Issue Type Screen
  2. Click on "Associate an Issue Type with Screen Scheme"
