When migrating Xray from a Jira Server/Data Center to the Cloud using JCMA (Jira Cloud Migration Assistant), it's important to understand the impact of using S3 storage for attachments.

Key Considerations

• Xray and S3 Storage: Xray does not yet support storing attachments on Amazon S3, and the migration to the Cloud will encounter issues with attachments stored in S3.

• Migration Behavior:

  • Attachments Created Before S3 Configuration: Any attachments created before the client configured S3 storage have been moved to S3. Since Xray cannot access attachments stored on S3, the Xray migration will not find these attachments.

  • Attachments Created After S3 Configuration: Attachments created after the client configured S3 storage behave differently. In these cases, Xray (by chance) can access and migrate the attachments.
