Xray can be enabled in your existing projects or your team may decide to create new projects.

The setup that needs to be done depends on the decisions made by your team in terms of project organization.

Identify the project organization approach

As Administrator, you need to know how many Jira projects your team will need you to create.

The number and setup that are needed depend directly on the project organization approach that your team decides to use.

Discuss with your team or Quality Manager the available options in terms of organization and create the project and specific set up that needs to be done!

Identify the project scope

When you create a new project you must understand the project scope regarding Xray. Depending on the scope you will need to perform specific configurations.

	Enable Requirement Coverage	Enable Xray Issue Types
Is the project going to have requirements, defects, tests, test plans, test executions together in the same project?
Is the project only to accommodate test entities?
Is the project only to accommodate requirements or other covered issues?

If you just perform the Basic Setup it means that you have activated Xray at an existing project and that you have Requirements, Defects and Test entities all together. Check if it's time to create new projects!
