The Test Step Status is the status of a specific step inside the Test Run. The test step status may affect the Test overall Run Status.

You can check the Test Step Status at Step Status.

Review the Default Test Step Statuses

The default Test Statuses are:

Name	Description
PASSED	The test step has passed
TODO	The test step has not started
EXECUTING	The test step is currently being executed
FAILED	The test step has failed

These statuses can not be deleted nor changed.

Create New Test Step Status

To create a new status, go to Jira Settings > Apps > Xray > Test Step Statuses and go to the Add New Test Step Status section at the bottom of the page.

Then fill out the configuration information and press Add.

Name: the name for the custom status.
Description: the description for the custom status
Color: the color for the new custom status.
Test Status: the test status to map this step status when calculating requirement coverage.

By creating a new test step status you will map it to specific test status. This allows you to control the requirement coverage calculation.
