The template page allows users to search for templates that are available in the Template Store and quickly view them in their desired Office application without leaving it. After opening the Template tab, the retrieved templates will take into account if the add-in is in Xray Document Generator On-Premise or Xray Document Generator Cloud mode.


Structure

In every template card you will be able to view the following information:

  • Name
  • Description
  • Scopes, Platforms, and Categories by hovering the pill-like sections of the template information card(as you can see in the image)
  • Number of downloads
  • Thumbnails by clicking on the image of the template information card


Depending on the Office app that is being used when the tab Templates is opened, the retrieved templates will change based on it, which means you will only see DOCX templates in Word and XLSX templates in Excel.

View Thumbnails

You can click on the template image to preview any of the templates retrieved from the store. When clicked, a new panel will be opened that contains a gallery with all images related to the selected template.

In the image gallery panel, you will be able to swipe through all of the images that preview a template. Once you are done viewing them, you can simply close the opened panel.

Search

We can search for a specific template by providing an expression. The found templates will have the introduced key in their title or description.

Apply Template

To apply a template you need to click on the "Apply" button. When applying a template, a new document will be opened, regardless if we are working with Word and Excel, which contains all the information and the same structure of the selected template. We can then choose to start working on that new document or close the newly opened window and keep working on the first document.
