You can divide your instance into small chunks, but please make sure to migrate all the projects that have dependencies between them. You can check for dependencies using the [preflight check](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/display/XRAY/Jira+Cloud+Migration+Guide#JiraCloudMigrationGuide-PreflightChecks).

During a migration from **Jira Data Center** to **Cloud**, failures can occur if some projects required for migration are **missing or were not included** in the migration plan.

### Diagnosis

1. In Jira Data Center, navigate to:  
`Jira Administration → Manage Apps → Xray → Cloud Migration`
2. Click **Download Project Dependency Map**. This file shows, by group, which projects have **Xray dependencies**.
3. Use the **Cloud Migration Pre-Flight Checker** to verify project dependencies.
4. Check that **all projects included in the migration** are present and that all dependent projects in each group are migrated together.

> ⚠️ Missing dependent projects will cause migration failures.

### Solution

1. Delete the already migrated projects on the **Cloud**.
2. Create a **new migration plan**, including:
  - The projects that failed due to missing dependencies
  - Any dependent projects required for those groups
3. Add **Xray** to the migration plan.
4. Run the migration.

> ❌ The **Xray Re-run feature will NOT work** for this type of failure.

### Best Practices

- Use the **Project Dependency Map** and **Pre-Flight Checker** **before starting migration**.
- Ensure **all dependent projects in a group** are included in the migration plan.
- Avoid migrating projects individually if dependencies exist; always migrate complete groups.
