# Upcoming Features

## New Built-in Report: Defect Traceability

We're introducing a new built-in report to Xray: the [Defect Traceability Report](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAY/pages/301471384) (Figure 1). Similarly to the existing [Traceability Report](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAY/pages/301699901), users will gain complete visibility into all of their defects, the test run that originated it, from what test, all the way to the affected requirements.

This new report simplifies the traceability from [Defect to Requirement](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAY/pages/301469601), making it easier to understand what requirements were impacted by each of the existing defects.

> ⚠️ The existing "Traceability Report" will be renamed to "Requirement Traceability" for clear distinction once both reports are available.

## Store Documents in Amazon S3 Storage

We are excited to support Amazon S3 storage for Xray-generated documents like reports and Test results (Figure 2).

With this update, Xray documents can be generated and exported leveraging the Amazon S3 buckets configured in your Jira environments, minimizing disruptions to workflows by ensuring backward compatibility and reliability.

## Configure Xray on Existing Projects via the API

We are excited to introduce the ability to enable Xray on Jira projects via the Xray API. With this update (Figure 3) you'll be able to:

- Fetch the list of projects from Jira with Requirement Coverage enabled.
- Enable Xray Requirement Coverage on a project.
- Add the Xray Issue Types and screens.

This improvement will allow for Xray to better suit large-scale organizations where multiple projects are created at a high velocity, saving the time of having to configure Xray manually on each project.

## **How to Prepare for These Updates**

1. Review your current workflows and identify areas where these updates could add value.
2. Stay updated by subscribing to Xray announcements.
