# Introduction

The Test Executions Report shows a list of Test Executions with metrics related to each execution, including the Test count per run status, per Test Type, overall progress, and Linked Defects.

![Figure 1 - Test Executions report](media://eea7b27b-20a9-4927-a593-2ab3477b17c8)

> ⚠️ To use this report, your project must have the Test Execution or Sub-Test Execution Issue Types in the Issue Type scheme.

This report enables you to evaluate some relevant metrics of Test Executions and compare them between different cycles.

The Test Executions report features **two-level expandable rows**, allowing you to drill down from Test Executions → Test Cases → Iterations for comprehensive execution analysis:

- Drill down into execution details without leaving the report.
- Visualize Test status distributions with bar graphs.
- Sort data client-side for instant results.
- Customize column display to focus on relevant data.

Possible usage scenarios:

- Analyzing both the progress of the Test Execution and the success rate (i.e., the % of Tests contributing to the requirement's OK status).
- Seeing the number of manual Tests vs. others in the Test Execution.
- Checking the overall execution status (i.e., the current status of the Test Runs).
- Verifying the number of opened/closed linked Defects, in the context of the Test Execution.

## Understanding and Using the Report

### Columns

By clicking *Columns* (Figure 5 - 1), you can:

- Use the boxes to add/remove (Figure 5 - 2) columns.
- Use the grey dots to reorder these columns (Figure 6 - 3) by dragging and dropping them directly in the table header. This action has the same effect as rearranging columns within the column dropdown menu, and changes made in one area will be reflected in the other.
- Use the search bar (Figure 5 - 5) to find columns.
- Click *Restore Defaults* (Figure 5 - 6), all columns reset to system defaults.

> ⚠️ Choosing or deselecting columns from the dropdown menu (Figure 5 - 5) will also affect the columns displayed in the table.
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ Click *Done* (Figure 5 - 5) to implement these changes. Your configuration is saved and persists across sessions.

### Table

#### Drag and Drop

You can reorder the table columns by using the grey dots to drag and drop the columns to their desired position (Figure 6 - 1):

- Release the mouse button to drop the column into the new position.
- The table will automatically update with the new column order.

### Source Data

Available by clicking *Project* (Figure 7 - 1).

Source Test Execution Issues (Figure 7 - 2) can be directly provided using a saved filter or by specifying some Test Execution-related fields:

- **Saved filter**: a saved filter containing Test Execution Issues.
- **Project**: select multiple projects to analyze **(only available in Xray Enterprise).**
- **Fix Version**: the version assigned to the Test Plan.
- **Assignee**: the Test Execution Issue assignee.
- **Status**: the Test Execution Issue Status.
- **Resolution**: the Test Execution issue Resolution.
- **Test Plan**: the assigned Test Plan.
- **Environment**: the assigned Test Environment.

![Figure 7 - Data](media://fd63087f-4d46-41d3-ae61-4aaced1b6d71)

Once you’re finished, click *Apply* (Figure 7 - 3) to save your changes.

> ℹ️ Only Test Executions from the selected projects are shown.

###
Other Columns (Figure 8 - 1)

- **Total Tests**: number of Tests in the Test Execution; it also corresponds to the number of Test Runs.
- **Number of Tests by Status**: number of Tests/Test Runs, per Test Run status.
- **Number of Tests by Test Type**: number of Test Execution's Tests, per Test Type; If you create a custom Test Type it would be represented as *Other*.
- **Progress**: overall progress; % of Test Runs with a final status.
- **Success Rate**: % of "successful" Tests (i.e., whose latest status contributes to the OK requirement status; the PASS Test Run status is an example of such a status).
- **Elapsed Time**: sum of the elapsed time of Test Runs that have been or are being executed.
- **Linked Defects**: Defects directly associated with the related Test Runs. Will count as unique Defects (i.e., if the same Defect Issue is added multiple times in the same Test Run or is added multiple times within Test Runs of the same Test Execution, it will count as one).

#### Expanding/Collapsing Data

**Level 1: Expanding to View Test Cases**

In the report table (Figure 9), in the Iterations/Summary column, click the expand/arrow icon (Figure 9 - 1; 2). This will make the icon collapse and expand the row, showing the Test cases (Figure 9 - 3). Each Test case shows:

- Test key and link.
- “Test Case #” label.
- Iteration count.
- Status bar graph.

![Figure 9 - Expand](media://ae8d6474-489b-4b3f-b95b-25c5d2e8dfdd)

**Level 2: Expanding to View Iterations**

Within an expanded Test case row, click the expand/arrow icon next to “Test Case #” (Figure 9 - 2). Iteration details load and appear as deeply indented sub-rows (Figure 9 - 3). Each iteration shows:

- “Iteration #” label.
- Status badge (PASS, FAIL, TODO, etc.) - Figure 9 - 4.
- Test environment (if applicable).

### Pagination for Test Cases

You can use the dropdown menu in the top-right corner to select the number of entries (Figure 9 - 5). At the bottom, pagination numbers allow you to navigate and load data for specific pages (Figure 9 - 6).

### Sorting Options

The Test Executions Report features client-side sorting for instant results without server round-trips. To sort:

1. Locate sortable column headers and then click the ↕ icon (Figure 9 - 7).
2. Click a column header to sort.
3. First click: ascending (A→Z, 0→9, oldest→newest).
4. Second click: descending (Z→A, 9→0, newest→oldest).

### Status Color (Figure 9 - 8)

| **Color** | **Status** | **Description** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Green | PASS | Test passed successfully |
| Red | FAIL | Test failed |
| Blue | EXECUTING | Test currently running |
| Grey | TODO | Test not yet executed |
| Orange | Aborted | Test not yet aborted |

## Exporting the Report

Once generated, the report can be exported to a CSV file, which will include all report rows (and not just the visible ones):

> Macro (rw-ui-steps-macro)
>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> Click *Export* (Figure 10 - 1) and then *To csv* (Figure 10 - 2).
>

>
> > Macro (rw-step)
>
> You will get the file on your machine instantaneously.
