Certain parameters may apply to more than one model. They may apply to any model for a given project, system under test, or domain. By saving them to the Reusable Parameter Library, you can make them available to anyone in your project or organization, ensuring consistent definitions across models.


## Saving a Parameter for Reuse

The most straight forward way to create a reusable parameter is to save an existing parameter from one of your models to be reusable in other models, and by other test designers.


Open a parameter for editing by clicking on its name in the Parameters screen. At the bottom of the dialog, you'll see a **Save for Reuse** button.

Once you click this button, you'll then specify whether this parameter applies to just the current project, or if it applies to models generally across your organization.

**Make reusable for this project**: The parameter will be available only within models in the current project. Use this for parameters specific to a particular project.


**Make reusable everywhere**: The parameter will be available to all models in your organization. Use this for common parameters that may apply to a system under test or domain that spans multiple projects.


**Note:** The option to make a parameter reusable for a project will *only* appear when the model you are saving it from is in a project. If the model is not in a project, you can only save its parameters for reuse everywhere across your organization.


The parameter will be available for reuse once you've selected the appropriate scope. You'll also see that the parameter is marked as reusable within the model by a recycling icon next to its name.

## Managing Reusable Parameters

You can navigate to the Reusable Parameter Library by clicking the name of the model at the top of the page, and clicking Reusable Parameter Library in the dropdown menu.

The Reusable Parameter Library displays all available reusable parameters with useful metadata.

In this example, more general parameters like Confirmed Email? and User Type have been made available for all models across the organization, while parameters specific to testing a Monopoly game system have been made available specifically for that project.


The table shows:

**Parameter Name**: There are icons to hover for values and click to edit or delete.

**Created at**: When the parameter was added to the library.

**Number of values**: How many parameter values the parameter has.

**Last used**: When the parameter was most recently reused in a model.

**Used in models**: How many models currently use this parameter.

**Last saved by**: Who last modified the parameter.


## Creating a Parameter from the Library

You can create a new parameter for use across multiple models from the library itself.  To do this, click the blue **New Reusable Parameter** button, which will open a dialog matching the standard dialog for creating parameters, including the same options for what scope the parameter applies to.

## Promoting a Project Parameter

If you have a reusable parameter that's currently scoped for reuse at the project level but that should be available everywhere instead, click the globe icon to promote it to organization-wide availability. **Note:** This transition is only available in one direction, and organization-wide reusable parameters cannot transition to project-scoped.


## Editing a Reusable Parameter

You can make edits to a reusable parameter by clicking the pencil icon while hovering over the parameter in the library. This editing view matches the standard editing view from the parameters screen.

**Note:** Changes made here will *not* automatically apply to models where the reusable parameter appears. However, users will see that there have been updates to the parameter the next time they open their model and will be able to sync those existing usages of the parameter with the copy in the library if needed.


## **Deleting a Reusable Parameter**

Click the delete icon to remove a reusable parameter from the library, following a confirmation dialog.

**Note:** If the parameter is currently used in any models, the parameter will not be removed from those models, but users will be informed that the parameter is no longer in the library and will have the option to remove it from their model or keep it.

The Reusable Parameter Library contains pre-defined parameters from yourself and your colleagues that you use in your models. Using reusable parameters ensures consistency across your teams' testing efforts and saves time when building new models.

## Adding Parameters from the Library

There are two ways to add reusable parameters to your model.


### Using the Add from Library Dialog

From the Parameters screen, click **Reuse Parameters** to open the selection dialog.

The dialog displays all available reusable parameters, organized by scope. If your model is in a project, you'll see project-specific parameters listed separately from organization-wide parameters.


In this example, we'll add the **Confirmed Email? **parameter to the current model by selecting it from the list.

### Using the Parameter Name Dropdown

When creating a new parameter, the parameter name dropdown includes reusable parameters available for the current model. These appear in **bold** to distinguish them from other reuse suggestions not from the Reusable Parameter Library.

Select a reusable parameter from the dropdown, and it will be added to your model with its parameter values already populated.


## Keeping Reused Parameters in Sync with Changes

When anyone makes a modification to a reusable parameter in the library, you will be notified of the change the next time you open a model using that parameter. This ensures you're aware of changes to the reusable parameter that might affect your testing.

In this example, the new user type **VIP **has been added to this parameter. Click **Sync Changes **to update the copy of the parameter in this model to match the version currently in the library. Alternatively, you can click **Ignore Changes** to keep your current copy of the parameter, if the change doesn't apply to your test model.


Parameters that are out of sync with the reusable library will be marked with a warning icon on the Parameters screen.

### Syncing from the Edit Dialog

If you're editing a parameter and it has unsynced changes, the dialog will show the current set of differences. You can click the **Sync Changes **button to realign the parameter with the version in the library.

## When a Library Parameter Is Deleted

If a reusable parameter is deleted from the library, you will be notified of the deletion the next time you open a model using that parameter. You can choose to either sync the deletion by selecting the removed parameter and clicking the **Sync Changes** button in the notification, or you can keep the parameter by clicking the **Ignore Changes** button.
