# Introduction
A Test Set is a collection of Tests. It often contains detailed instructions or goals as well as information on the configuration to be used during Testing.
Test Sets are simple, flat lists of Tests that you can use as a basis for creating [Test Execution](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565117) or [Test Plans](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565153). Since the Tests are grouped in a logical way, such as organizing all Tests related to regression testing or security, or all Tests for a specific component or some high-level feature/business case, a Test can be part of different Test Sets. Test Sets can also be used as a dynamic way to cover requirements.
# Operations
## Creating a New Test Set

> On the top menu of your Jira Cloud instance, click *Create* (Figure 1 - 6). The *Create Issue* modal will open (Figure 1).

> Select the *Space* (Figure 1 - 1; mandatory field) and for the *Work type***,** pick *Test Set* (Figure 1 - 2; mandatory field).

> Enter a *Summary* (Figure 1 - 3; mandatory field) and, if you wish, complete the remaining fields.

> Once finished, click *Create* (Figure 1 - 5). If you enable the *Create another* option (Figure 1 - 4), a new *Create* modal will appear, pre-populated with your previous Test Set details, except for the *Summary* field, which will be blank.
## Editing a Test Set

> In your Jira Cloud instance, go to the Space with the Test Set you wish to edit.

> On the left side menu, click *Filters* (Figure 2 - 1), and then select *View all work items* (Figure 2 - 2).

> Click *Type* (Figure 2 - 3) and select *Test Set *(Figure 2 - 4).

> A list of Test Sets will appear. Click the Test Set you want to edit (Figure 2 - 5).

> The Test Set opens (Figure 3).

> When editing a Test set (Figure 3), you can do the following:
>
> - Change the title (Figure 3 - 1).
> - Add attachments, subtasks, link Work items, Tests, etc. (Figure 3 - 2).
> - Change the description (Figure 3 - 3).
> - Add new/existing Test (Figure 3 - 4).
> - Apply filters (Figure 3 - 5).
> - Edit the details (Figure 3 - 6): assignee, reporter, labels, etc.
> - Edit more fields (Figure 3 - 7): original estimate, time tracking, components, etc.
> - Move, clone, delete the Work item, and more by clicking the ellipsis button (Figure 3 - 8). Place the cursor over the field to edit, click it, and then click the check symbol to save the changes.
## Cloning a Test Set
> ℹ️ When cloning a Test Set Work item, all the Test Work item associations will also be cloned.

> Go to the Test Set you want to clone. Click the ellipsis button (Figure 4 - 1) and then select *Clone* (Figure 4 - 2).

> A modal will open for you to proceed (Figure 5). Click *Clone* to confirm (Figure 5 - 1).

> And after the cloned Work item is created, its page will be opened.

> On some occasions, the cloned Work item screen may open before the Xray information is cloned and, as a result, the new Test will appear empty. When this happens, you will be notified.
## Configuring Test Columns
Xray allows you to configure the columns for the Tests table (Figure 6). This configuration is specific to each user and can be restored to the default settings defined on the [Default Column Layouts](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44568532) page in the Xray app Space settings.

> Go to the Test Set Work item where you want to configure the columns and click *Columns* (Figure 6 - 4).

> Click *Done* when finished or *Cancel* to abort this operation (Figure 6 - 2). The table refreshes with the configured columns.
### Restoring Columns to Default Configuration
Repeat the *Configuring Test Columns* process, except in the last step, click the *Restore Defaults* option (Figure 6 - 3).
### Changing the Columns Order

> Go to the Test Set Work item containing the columns you want to reorder.

> Hover over the 8-dotted icon (Figure 6 - 5) on the column header you want to reorder and drag it to the desired position.
## Associating Tests with Test Set
Associating a Test Set with an existing or new Test in Xray allows you to:
- Reuse Tests across multiple Test Sets, saving time.
- Maintain consistency with the same Test version.
- Easily track usage for impact analysis.
- Simplify updates, as changes apply to all associated sets.
- Enhance coverage analysis across projects.
This streamlines Testing and ensures uniformity.
### From the Test Set Work Item View Screen
#### Creating a New Test
To create a new Test directly associated with the current Test Set from the Test Set Work item view screen:

> Go to the Test Set Work item you want to associate with a new Test.

> Click the *Add Tests* (Figure 7 - 1) button and select *New Test *(Figure 7 - 2). The *Create Work item* modal will open (Figure 8).

>

> In the Create Work item modal (Figure 8), you can:
>
> - Fill in the fields (Figure 8 - 1; 2; 3; 4; 5).
> - Import Work items (Figure 8 - 8).
> - Configure fields (Figure 8 - 9).
> - Create another Work item (Figure 8 - 6).
>

> Once you're done, click the *Create* button (Figure 8 - 7).
#### Using an Existing Test
To associate existing Tests with a Test Set from the Test Set Work item view screen:

> Go to the Test Set Work item you want to associate with an existing Test.

>
> Click the *Add Tests* (Figure 9 - 1) button and select *Existing Tests *(Figure 9 - 2). The *Add Tests* modal will open (Figure 10).

> In the *Add Tests* modal (Figure 12), see the options below:

> Under the *Select* tab (Figure 10 - 1):

> - Input the desired Test Issue key in the *Tests* field (Figure 10 - 4).
> - Click the d*own arrow icon* on the Tests field and select the Test from the history search list (Figure 10 - 6).
#### Searching for Tests to Associate
Under the *Search* tab (Figure 10 - 2):
- Select the desired Project (Figure 11 - 1)** **and any other desired field, such as *Test Type, Contains, Label, Fix Version, Component, Covering, Covering Fix Version, Saved Filters,*** **and** ***Workflow Status *(Figure 11 - 2).
- Click the *Search* button (Figure 11 - 3) after filling in the browse fields to get a list of matching entries.
#### Using JQL to Search for Tests
Under the *JQL* tab (Figure 12 - 1):
- Write the desired [JQL](https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/advanced-searching-764478330.html) search (Figure 12 - 2).
- Click the *Search* button (Figure 12 - 3) to perform the JQL** **search and get a list of the matching entries.
Once you're finished, for any of the cases, click the *Add Selected* button (Figures 11 - 5; Figure 11 - 4; Figure 12 - 4).
## Bulk Operations - Removing Tests

> Go to the Test Set Work item containing the Tests you want to bulk-delete.

> Click the checkbox and choose the best option for bulk selection: *All* or *Current Page* (Figure 13 - 1). The *Select* button will appear (Figure 13 - 2).

> Click the *Selected* button (Figure 14 - 1) and then click *Remove *(Figure 14 - 2).

> A modal will open for you to confirm the bulk removal of the Work items (Figure 15 - 1).

## Exporting to Cucumber
Cucumber Test Sets in Jira can be exported to feature files that are ready to be executed in Cucumber. The generated feature files follow the rules defined in [Generate Cucumber Features](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565307) and consider the context of the Jira Test Set Work item.
This action will generate and download a *FeatureBundle* zip file containing a single Cucumber feature file for every Requirement associated with the target Test (with the Test type Gherkin) contained in the Test Set.

> To export a Test Set Work item containing Cucumber Tests to feature files, click the ellipsis button (Figure 16 - 1) and select *Xray - Generate Cucumber Feature Files *(Figure 16 - 2).

> A modal will open for you to download the file onto your machine (Figure 17 - 1).

# Xray History
Any changes made to the Test Set data are recorded in the Xray History section (Figure 18). This includes linking the Test with other entities (e.g., Test).
