# Navigation

Xray uses [Jira Work item Types](https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/what-are-issue-types/) for almost all Testing activities. Therefore, you can just use the Jira navigation to access [Tests](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565156), [Test Executions](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565117), and other entities.

From the Xray Work items, you can easily navigate to other related Work items by using links within the Xray web panels.

## Global Menu/Xray App

### Access

<span style="color: #172b4d">If you are </span><span style="color: #172b4d">**not working inside the context of a Space**</span><span style="color: #172b4d">, you can see the global navigation bar on the left side of the Jira Cloud menu. Xray provides several links to both Global and Space actions. </span>

<span style="color: #172b4d">To access the Xray app/global menu, under </span><span style="color: #172b4d">*Your*</span><span style="color: #172b4d"> </span><span style="color: #172b4d">*Apps*</span><span style="color: #172b4d"> (Figure 1 - 1) and then </span><span style="color: #172b4d">*Xray*</span><span style="color: #172b4d"> (Figure 1 - 2). </span>

### Menu Sections

The following sections are provided on the Xray app (Figure 1 - 1):

- **[Getting Started](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44566361)** - opens a new screen with basic information about the Xray entities and Work item Types.
- **[Configure Project](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44567037)** - opens a modal that prompts the user for a Space to configure. This is a quick way of configuring Xray for a given Space, especially for those new to the app.
- **Testing Board** - opens a board in the context of the current Jira Space where users can access the Test information for a given Space (e.g. the [Test Repository](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565166)). You can also access Xray Testing Board from the Jira Space menu (in the Sprint Board view, top ribbon, under “More”).
- **Search** - links to the Jira Work item search screen for finding the different Xray Work items.
  - Search Tests.
  - Search [Preconditions](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565159).
  - Search [Test Sets](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565163).
  - Search [Test Plans](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565153).
  - Search Test Executions.
- **[Reporting Center](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/338526916)** - allows you to analyze your Space from multiple perspectives, including Testing progress, current Requirement statuses, and more.
- **[Test Case Importer](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565062)** - opens the Test Case Importer wizard that will guide the user step-by-step in importing Test cases from tools outside Jira.
- **[Documentation](https://docs.getxray.app/site/xray)** - a link to the Xray documentation (where you are right now).
- **[Xray Academy](https://academy.getxray.app/)** - gets you to the Xray Cloud/DC online courses catalog.
- **[Support](https://jira.getxray.app/servicedesk/customer/portal/2)** - shows you several links to help with get in touch with the Xray Support team.

### Getting Started

When you open the Xray app, the Getting Started screen appears (Figure 2).

Here you can:

- Configure a Space/Project (more info in the [Quick Setup article](https://getxraydocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/XRAYCLOUD/pages/44565860)).
- Watch a [quick Xray demo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKZng5ZmtJM&pp=ygUJeHJheSBkZW1v) and/or [sign up to join a live demo](https://www.getxray.app/weekly-demo).
