[Xray] Server/DC to Cloud Migrations (JCMA) – Xray migration got failed due to archived projects.

This guide explains why certain migrations from the Jira Server/Data Center to the Cloud may fail and how to resolve the issue.

Cause of Migration Failure

During a Jira migration, if any archived projects are linked to an Xray project, they will be included in the migration. Unfortunately, this can lead to migration failures. When this occurs, customers typically report the issue to our Support team, and we investigate on the Xray Cloud side.

Error Message

When checking the migration logs in Xray Cloud, the Support team will encounter an error similar to the following:

An error occurred while trying to migrate for tenant XXXXXXXXX and plan name TEST MiGRATION - Error processing file with label SETTINGS, key XXXXXXXX: - Set project property "xray-project-covered-issue-types" in project 10030 failed! - You cannot edit the configuration of this project.

Solution

To resolve this issue, unarchive all relevant projects before attempting the migration again. Xray requires all projects to be unarchived prior to migration to function correctly.
