Implications and Limitations

Enabling/Disabling a Feature

  • Enabling/disabling a feature will take immediate effect.
  • Enabling/disabling a feature won't change or remove any data. Only access to the feature is affected.
  • Existing configurations are not overwritten or changed.
  • Xray Features is a Global setting, meaning that you can not disable a feature for a specific project.

Dynamic Test Plans and Test Case Versioning

  • For Xray features like Dynamic Test Plans and/or Test Case versioning, no data is removed. Users with viewing permissions can see the existing data, but can't make changes to it. For instance, if a user has already created test cases with multiple versions and this feature is then disabled, they will no longer see those versions in the issue's details. It will appear as though they are using the standard functionality. If the feature is re-enabled, the versions will reappear. No existing data will be deleted; the user will simply stop seeing the versions if the feature is disabled. A warning message stating that the feature has been disabled will be shown (Figure 3 - 1). The behavior is the same for Dynamic Test Plans.

  • For Test Case Versioning, all tests with multiple versions will continue to show all available versions, but users won't be able to create new test versions for new or existing tests.
  • When disabling Dynamic Test Plans, all the existent Dynamic Test Plans will be set as read-only, this means you are not able to add any extra tests or update the JQL filter.
