Usually Xray for Jira Cloud is updated automatically so you always have the latest version.
Certain major updates may need manual approval by the Jira instance administrator. This happens, for example, when new Xray features need additional scopes in Jira, or if the UI has changed dramatically. Jira requires that such updates be approved and installed manually by the administrator.
Automatic updates
If the changes do not require manual customer approval, they are automatically deployed to all customer instances within 33 hours by Jira.

To update Xray for Jira manually
- From Jira main menu, select Apps > Manage your apps.
- Find Xray for Jira Cloud in the app list and click Update next to it.
